A brisk breeze gust through the deserted park. At this time of day for the past few months, the playground has always been bustling with little children and their families. But today was different. The sun had decided to hide behind the clouds and the day had traces of autumn in the air. A chilly wind was keeping everyone indoors and reaching for their sweaters.
I hate days like these where summer takes a step back to reintroduce the world to fall again. It makes me realize that summer is coming to an end and before long, autumn will envelop our little towns in vibrant leaves and crisp air. Of course, summer hasn’t said goodbye yet but it still makes me sad that fall is just around the corner. In the mean time, I will soak up as much sun as I can and cherish the moments of summer that is left.
Anyway, this is my last post until September 7.
I’m leaving for college on Saturday and I want to get adjusted to the new college life without trying to keep up with a blog. I can honestly say that I will miss chatting with you all for the next couple of weeks.
In the mean time, feel free to follow me on Instagram @oliviamonopoli to keep up with the latest. (Let me know if you did so I can do the same!)
Other than that, I’ll see you in September with some fun posts ahead!
I don’t know why but I think I dresssed like Taylor Swift in these pictures. Like an Asian Taylor or something. The red stripes and red lipstick makes me want to jam out to her song Red (which, I am actually doing). People hate on Taylor but I have no idea why. All of her albums are on my iPod, even the ones during her youngling country phase. As a country song despiser, I think that’s saying a lot. And literally every time I see a picture of her, I get insanely jealous. Not just because of the fact that she is insanely tall and she should donate some inches to the needy (me). But because she has this most perfectest perfect style. Like whoever her stylist is, please adopt me also! 😛
Celebration Comment Topic: Pick any of the previous questions this week! What decade would you go shopping in, what decade would you say influences your style the most, and which previous trend would you stop if you could?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted a yellow dress to wear to graduation. Yellow seemed like a suitable color to begin my departure of being a green and gold bear. But it was a day before my graduation ceremony and no yellow dress. I guess a sensible person would have gotten into her car and headed to the mall to find that dream dress. But I like to do things the hard way and instead, I got into my car and headed to Jo Ann Fabrics. And *technically* for my last day as a high school student, I spent it behind my sewing machine making a yellow floral dress. It’s funny because after all that work, no one could actually see my dress under my robe. Oooh well! On the plus side, I came out with a pretty dress in a gorgeous floral yellow that has gotten a lot of use!
Anyway, my sincerest apologizes to all as I have been out of town. I’m a little behind on a few posts and commenting. But I’m on my way to getting caught up! I should be A-Ok by the end of the week! Hang tight:)
PS-For the people who I’ve recently commented on, I’ve been adding weird sign offs. Some of my favorites have been: “Here’s to always having loving ways and perfect days”, “Yours Until The Hersheys’s Kisses”, and “May the god of dance smile upon your feet”. No reason except a way to make commenting a little less tedious:P
I know I haven’t posted about last week’s celebration comments but they’ll be up tomorrow. In the mean time, if anyone wants to comment on this week’s topic it is:
Floral Crowns. What are your thoughts?
I am a huge fan of mixing texture pieces together. I know there’s this whole big trend of mixing patterns together-I mean that’s cool too-but mixing textures is where it’s at. I love putting knits with leather, silk with denim, chiffon with tulle. In this outfit, I combined two of my favorites-lace and crochet. It’s one of my favorite outfits for the summer (although in this heat, I would be quite happy to be chilling in a pool with my bathing suit on). And since the two pieces are both neutral colors, it makes for styling it sooo easy! Sometimes I add a scarf or in this case, I just used my little bike necklace, red lips, and these heart sunglasses.
Anyway, yesterday I found out some pretty exciting news for me and my baby blog. Probably most of you know about this but Modcloth has this handy dandy little place to submit your outfit photos called Style Gallery. Anyway, I recently discovered this a couple of weeks ago and have been submitting some of my outfit pics. One of them from the post, Yellow Bohemian & Nostalgia, was top this week which got me pretty excited. Later that day, I got an email from Modcloth telling me that they want to feature my picture in their next newsletter! I can tell you I ran out of my room (and past the guy cleaning our windows today who gave me a judgmental look) to tell my mom. My only problem is that I have no idea how to view their newsletters so if anyone could direct me to that, it would be much appreciated. So yeah, look for me in their next newsletter:)
Hope everyone is having an enjoyable week and isn’t melting too much from the summer heat:P
As this post goes up, I will be beginning my last final of my high school career. Honestly, it is insane how fast these past four years have gone. I still remember running into my first period class-English with Psycho Yaijko (she wasn’t psycho but that’s how we learned her name which rhymes with Yaijko)- late because I couldn’t find my class. At the time, the high school seemed so vast…Ready to fill it with my own memories. I was a little fourteen year old girl starting high school. Now I am basically a young woman (who still occasionally likes her Disney princess movies and strawberry flavored milk) ready to make her mark on the world. I can’t say that I am the same person as the girl who started high school…I have learned, loved, lost, and laughed. But I am glad that I come out of the school different. It shows I have grown inside and out. Now I say goodbye to the halls of the Golden Bears, the green lockers, and people I have gotten to know during high school. But I know that there will be great memories ahead too.
