Off to College… See You September 7th

A brisk breeze gust through the deserted park. At this time of day for the past few months, the playground has always been bustling with little children and their families. But today was different. The sun had decided to hide behind the clouds and the day had traces of autumn in the air. A chilly wind was keeping everyone indoors and reaching for their sweaters.

I hate days like these where summer takes a step back to reintroduce the world to fall again. It makes me realize that summer is coming to an end and before long, autumn will envelop our little towns in vibrant leaves and crisp air. Of course, summer hasn’t said goodbye yet but it still makes me sad that fall is just around the corner. In the mean time, I will soak up as much sun as I can and cherish the moments of summer that is left.

Anyway, this is my last post until September 7.

I’m leaving for college on Saturday and I want to get adjusted to the new college life without trying to keep up with a blog. I can honestly say that I will miss chatting with you all for the next couple of weeks.

In the mean time, feel free to follow me on Instagram @oliviamonopoli to keep up with the latest. (Let me know if you did so I can do the same!)

Other than that, I’ll see you in September with some fun posts ahead!

Love, Olivia

Floral Blue Shorts That Pass As A Skirt

In my previous outfit post on Tuesday, (sorry for the leave of absence… Busy learning how to kick some butt) I was talking about how I still have so many clothes to share with you guys but not enough time in the summer. I know why. It’s because I keep on buying more and more summer clothes. For instance, on Thursday, I went to TJ Maxx with my mom and came across these beautiful tropical floral shorts. And they were 8 dollars. Like who can pass up on that deal even if school starts up in a few weeks and I should really be buying fall stuff instead.

Whatever… I wore them to girls movie night Thursday and then out with Ryan Friday. So I know I’ll get some good wear from them. When Ryan came to pick me up on Friday, he complimented them by saying, “I’ve never seen that skirt before! I really like it!” And then I was all like, “Thanks but they’re actually shorts. Like I have the freedom to sit Indian style and stuff.” Clothes like that are really a win-win situation where they look classy enough to be skirts but are really shorts and give you the ability to sit in more positions or climb trees if you’re really that motivated.

Later in the evening, we were killing time before we went to see How To Train Your Dragon 2, 3D of course, (Cuz we’re cool), in TJ Maxx. Of course, I was dragging the poor guy through all the clothes and shoes when Ryan pointed over to a rack and said, “Hey! Those look familiar.” And there they were, the beautiful blue floral shorts that were also being worn by yours truly at the time. For some reason, it was actually quite awkward for a second. It felt like the moment when another girl is wearing the same clothes as you. Except this was a clothes rack instead of a human being.

Hope you had a fabulous weekend and have a motivating week ahead:)

Love, Olivia

Skaneateles in Crochet and Pleats

Today, my mother and I decided to take a trip up to Skaneateles, NY to meet up with some of our former neighbors for lunch. Going up there is always such a treat because the lake is just so gorgeous. Definitely a place I will aspire to buy a cottage in when I am rich and famous and such 😛 . We met up at the Blue Water Grill where I enjoyed a delicious salad. The trip ended up being a feast for both my eyes and stomach heheh.

I did manage to take some quick pictures by the waterside. Some people came right down next to the place I was posing…. After almost my 40th post, it is still soooo nerve-racking to take pictures around people. Unfortunately, the pictures came out super exposed or bright or contrasted or some other Photoshop words to make me sound like I know what I’m doing. I fiddled around with different things but putting my pictures under “warm” under the section “curves” was the best I could do. I really thought I was getting the hang of my camera but sometimes, it still likes to play tricks on me. It definitely has a mind of its own, I can tell you that.

Have a super weekend and be sure to answer this week’s Celebration Comments below!

The Floral Retro

It was the bright colors that caught my eye. I was just cruising the TJ Maxx dress racks and I came across this beautiful floral dress. The skirt was long and fuller. And there was a cutout in the back! The dress kind of reminded me of something girls would wear in The Help… minus the cutout. I mean, yeah, those girls were pretty infuriating but boy did they have a fabulous wardrobe!

I remember wearing this dress when I had to do my French Polynesian presentation…spoken all in French :0! I figured since it was basically a tropical paradise of sunny days and beaches, the bright florals of the dress were perfect for the presentation.

Anyway, in case you missed last post’s announcement, I’m starting a weekly post series called Celebration Comments. Each week there will be a topic presented and the top five comments will be shown along with a name and link to your blog!

This week’s topic: Comments! What kind of comments do you write and what kind of comments do you receive on your blog?

Obsessing Over Dress Sets and Sewing

To start off this lovely post, I would like to say first say that I did this thing you call…brushing your hair. And wowowow that was a complete mistake. To be perfectly honest, I hate brushing my hair and I normally never run a comb through it. Just in the fact that when I do, it explodes out and basically, chaos rains upon my day. It’s not even that it looks awful but you know the feeling that your hair just isn’t cooperating the way you want it to? That’s me right now. #badhairday

Anyway, moving on to the title, I have become obsessed with having a dress set or a matching crop top and skirt. Ariana Grande was the one who first introduced me to this amazing phenomenon. But alas, I journeyed far and wide to many stores around and could not find a dress set for my closet. So instead I combined my new obsession with another new obsession of sewing and created this dress set. I’ve worn the skirt and top already in the posts Lessons Learned and Stepping Stone . But I couldn’t wait for the post to put it all together!

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend. Saturday is graduation day for me and it is incredibly insane. That’s all I can really say because the feelings are so mixed and great right now. Can’t wait for the next step!

Love,

Olivia
